Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has taken the responsibility of conducting bulk recruitment examinations for lower grade posts in the Government of India’s different offices, Parliament, Secretariat, Ministries, Commissions to various positions like LDC (Lower Division Clerk), junior accountants, UDC (Upper Division Clerks), Auditors of graduate level, divisional accountants, income tax or central excise inspectors, graduate assistants, constables, sub-inspectors in central police organizations, Para-military forces etc. A large number of talented and qualified young people are getting a unique opportunity to render service in the Indian Government through SSC. Staff Selection Commission advertises all the Indian government jobs in all the major newspapers of the country. The age limit generally differs among various categories of the candidates as listed by the commission. The women candidates, SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and OBC get the facility of upper age limit.
The candidates are required to pay Rs. 100 as application fees. However, women candidates, SC, ST, and physically challenged candidates are exempted from paying the fees.
All the aspiring candidates must have the essential qualification to get through SSC. The candidates must have thorough knowledge in General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and IQ. The eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of the marks scored on the written test. The successful candidates who will qualify in the written test will be called for the interview or personality test which consists of 100 marks. Moreover, travel allowance will be paid to SC and ST candidates for the interview or personality test.
The candidates can apply either through online or offline. The candidates are required to read the information carefully before applying and filling up the boxes in the online application cautiously without making any mistakes.
SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2014:
The exam consists of Paper-I and Paper-II
Paper I is of Objective type paper and 150 marks and Paper II is of Descriptive type paper and 50 marks.
SSC MTS Syllabus Download:
Paper-I: Questions on ‘General Intelligence and Reasoning’ will be non-verbal considering the functions attached to the post. Questions on Numerical Aptitude and General English will be simple, of a level that an average matriculate will be in a position to answer comfortably. Questions on General Awareness will be also of similar standard.
General Intelligence: It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
English Language : Candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability would be tested.
Numerical Aptitude: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Paper-II: The Paper will be set in English and Hindi to test basic language skills commensurate with the educational qualification prescribed for the post. Candidates will be required to write one short essay/letter in English and Hindi each. Candidates can opt to write the essay/letter in any Indian language listed in 8th Schedule of the Constitution in lieu of Hindi
